The adapter provides the ability to use a Dual-mode DP transmitter in HDMI mode. This flexible application offer users a choice of connecting to their favorite display. All signal paths accept AC coupled video signals. The adapter converts this AC coupled signal into an HDMI rev 1.3 compliant signal with proper signal swing. This conversion is automatic and transparent to the user.    Although DisplayPort's signal is not compatible with HDMI or DVI, dual-mode ports (which are marked with DP++ logo) can use DisplayPort wires to transmit single-link HDMI and DVI signals which are then converted to higher signal levels by passive external adapters. Dual-link DVI and analog VGA are supported through powered electronic adapters which perform active conversion.    These are passive adapter cables that require a source with a DP++ port, meaning that HDMI signals are passed through the port, when this adapter is detected.
