Cablek's copper trunk cable assemblies are the
ideal solution for data centers and other applications where speed of
installation is important. Factory termination and testing simplify
installation, saving time and labor as compared to field terminated
installation.
Assemblies are custom configured in pre-engineered lengths with connectors to meet the specific needs of each application. A braided sleeve, or velcro ties,
bundles individual cables into an aesthetic and cohesive trunk
assembly. A pulling eye is also available which protects
terminations and ensures easy and efficient installation.

Termination types and when to use them
The termination type of the cable assembly depends on the layout of the Data Center or Telecommunications Room, and the design philosophy employed. Consideration must be given to the accessibility of the active equipment, and to what extent patching will be employed.
Jack-to-Jack |
Jack-to-Plug Eliminates one cross-connect point by having the cable plug directly into the active equipment (i.e. switches). The jack termination snaps into a Quick- Port panel, which would then be patched to other active equipment or work area ports as necessary. |
Plug-to-Plug Used to make a direct connection between active equipment (e.g. server to switch). It eliminates cross-connect capabilities, which is not necessary but a recommended practice. Also can be used in an open-space work area as a bundled patch cord group. Although trunks are more aesthetic in appearance, the use of multiple standard patch cords is more cost effective. |
Shown with pulling eye |
Jack-to-Open Used in applications similar to the Jack-to-Jack configuration, but one end would be terminated to a Universal/110-style panel instead of a QuickPort panel. This termination type requires field testing of the drops after the cables have been terminated. |
