TOSLINK Plastic Fibre Digital audio cables(SPDIF)

This audio cable has a Toslink male on one end and a Toslink male on the other. It is typically used to distribute high-definition, multi-channel audio from a DVD, satellite receiver, game console, computer or other digital audio component to an AV receiver.

SPDIF background:

S/PDIF specifies a protocol and choice of Physical Layer specifications for carrying digital audio signals between devices and stereo components. The name stands for Sony/Philips Digital Interconnect Format (more commonly known as Sony Philips Digital InterFace), the two companies being the primary designers of the S/PDIF format.

The physical connectors defined by SPDIF are RCA and 75 Ohms coax, and optical fibre TOSLINK.  Note that there are no differences in the signals transmitted over optical or coaxial S/PDIF connectors—both carry exactly the same information.   S/PDIF is, for all intents and purposes, a consumer version of the AES/EBU format.

These TOSLINK cables are made of superior plastic fibers eliminating unwanted noise and distortion.

– High-Purity Wide Band Signal Transmission –   Fiber optics cables are NOT susceptible to ground loops.
